SISTERS

The ISNJ Sisters group is a women’s network within the Islamic Society of North Jersey (ISNJ) that creates a welcoming space for Muslim women in the community to connect, engage, and support each other. They organize activities like educational classes, Quran study circles, family gatherings, and social events. They are also involved in community service projects and provide support groups tailored specifically to women’s needs.

The ISNJ Sisters group focuses on several key areas to support the growth and enrichment of Muslim women in community

Education
Classes and workshops that cover Islamic principles, fiqh (jurisprudence), history, and contemporary issues relevant to Muslim women.
Quran Learning
Programs for sisters to learn and deepen their understanding of the Quran, including tajweed (pronunciation rules), tafseer (interpretation), and memorization.
Hadith Learning
Study sessions focused on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), covering hadith collections, their meanings, and practical applications in daily life.
Social Network & Bonding
Opportunities for sisters to connect, share experiences, and foster strong, supportive friendships within the community. This includes social gatherings, outings, and group activities.
Mentoring
Pairing new members or younger sisters with more experienced women in the community for guidance, advice, and support in personal, spiritual, and family matters.

Quran Tajweed Class for Sisters

Curriculum

Learn how to recite the Qur’an properly with beauty and consistency. Instruction will be in English with individual attention from a qualified teacher.

Overview

Abu Hurairah mentioned that the Messenger of Allah (Peace and Blessing be upon him) said, “A strong believer is better and dearer to Allah than a weak one, and both are good.” Our goal is to revive this sunnah to benefit our physical and spiritual well-being and please Allah. We hold monthly Steps Challenges, monthly winners’ breakfast meetups, and walking/hiking meetups.
